Support Officer Homelessness Prevention and Advice
Support Officer Private Sector and Temporary Accommodation
We are seeking good administrators who also possess excellent interpersonal skills to work within the Housing Option Unit assisting officers in carrying out duties to those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, or require temporary housing or accommodation in the private sector as well as those seeking social housing. The Support Officers will primarily work in one team but due to the frontline nature of the Unit they will also need to work flexibly across teams to meet fluctuating demands. The main function of each team is:
Homelessness Prevention and Advice Team - Work to prevent homelessness wherever possible, carry out an assessment of clients’ needs and develop personal housing plans. Provide emergency accommodation if necessary and seek to help with longer term housing solutions where a legal duty is owed following investigation of homeless applications.
Private Rented Sector and Temporary Accommodation Team - Provide assistance in securing accommodation in the private rented sector for households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, offer assistance with bonds/ deposits. Make effective use of temporary accommodation with move on plans to minimise lengths of stay in temporary accommodation.
