Trainee Heritage Officer

Salary: £23,709 to £37,101pa plus a casual car allowance

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop a heritage career within a busy and ambitious local authority located in North Surrey.

We are looking for a confident, self-motivated individual to join our Heritage team within Planning Services. The team looks after over a large number of historic assets including Listed Buildings, Locally Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas and Historic Parks. These are recognised as the Borough’s “Crown Jewels” and we are committed to delivering the Borough’s Heritage Strategy as well as helping planning colleagues to protect and enhance our historic environment. We also work with a number of other national and local organisations to deliver successful heritage initiatives including Conservation Area appraisals and management plans.

To be successful in this interesting and varied role, you will need to have an initial degree and be prepared to study for a heritage post-graduate qualification. You will be expected to be competent in the use of IT, have excellent administrative and research skills and be committed to delivering high quality customer service. Knowledge of built heritage and/or planning would be desirable.
