Are you interested in escaping the normal 9 to 5 routine and doing something that is just a little bit different?

We are looking to recruit a Chauffeur to collect and take the Mayor safely, and on time, to official engagements using the Mayoral Car.  You will be responsible for ensuring that the Mayoral Car is kept clean and roadworthy at all times.  In addition to these duties you will also be expected to act as Macebearer on Civic and Ceremonial occasions.

You will be expected to work no more than 80 hours per month, which will include evenings and some weekends, as well as daytime, to support the Mayor’s official engagements and attendance at Civic functions.  The rate of pay for the job is fully inclusive and takes account of the need to work irregular hours.

You must be committed to providing a high quality service, ensuring that Civic protocol is adhered to at all times.  In doing so you must be trustworthy, reliable, smart, have a pleasant, diplomatic manner and be able to carry out your duties efficiently.  As well as being self reliant and able to work on your own initiative you will have the confidence to interact with a wide range of people, ensuring at all times that you act with sensitivity, discretion and with due regard for the need for confidentiality.

It is essential that you have a full, clean, valid driving licence and be willing to drive the official Mayoral Car.  You must also be prepared to wear the uniform provided.  Training will be given in respect of the Macebearer duties.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity please contact Derrin Gill, Mayor’s Secretary on 01372 474383.
